Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying, “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.” Exodus 15:1 ESV
Can you imagine how awestruck the Israelites were when they escaped the pursuit of Pharaoh and his army via the miraculous separation of the Red Sea—only to see their enemy drown in the same waters that had safeguarded their path to safety? Like Moses and the people of Israel, when the Lord grants us a great victory, we need to greatly sing his praises. It will reinforce the memory of God acting in our lives and will bolster our faith in his love and care. But most importantly, it disciplines us to give the glory to God—the only One who deserves the glory.
