Scripture: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. Ps 34:8,18,22
Observation: David penned this psalm after acting like a lunatic in front of the Philistine King, Abimelech. Divine inspiration as a means of taking refuge in the Lord? Perhaps. Regardless, David shares his heartfelt praise of the Lord which beautifully portrays our Father’s compassion and care for his children. He saves and redeems, but most importantly he is good.
Takeaway: Our part is to taste and see. How? We use all of our senses to discern the presence and work of the Lord in our daily lives. We observe and reflect on the evidence of the restored and redeemed which reveals his fingerprints. And even if redemption ends with death, we are not condemned. Eternity with our good God awaits us.
Prayer: Father God, help us in all aspects of life to taste and see that you are good! Amen.
