“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.” John 6:63,65
It is helpful to remember that when others reject our Gospel message, it is not because of the messenger. It is not because we failed to communicate the right series of Scripture verses or share our testimony with enough emotion and transparency. Albeit, it is important to develop and practice our presentation of the Gospel and our testimony. The point is that if God can speak through a donkey to gain the attention of a fool who is heading in the wrong direction (Numbers 22:30), then he can speak through us. We just need to be willing and available. It begins with the will of the Father, is accomplished by means of the Holy Spirit and the Word, and leads us to the Son.
Father God, grant us grace and humility to remember that it is not about us. Help us to persevere doing our small part and trust you with the rest. Amen.
